A 16-year-old Indian boy has allegedly shot his mother after she stopped him from playing PUBG, a mobile phone game, reports NDTV,
He hid her body for two days at their home in Uttar Pradesh's Lucknow.
The police said the teenager killed his mother in the early hours of Sunday with his father's licensed revolver, after an argument over the game he was addicted to.
The woman, shot in the head, died shortly afterwards.
The teen then hid his mother's body in a room and stayed at home with his nine-year-old sister for two days. The boy used a room freshener to cover the foul smell, police said.
The boy's sister told the police that he had threatened to kill her too if she told anyone.
"On Tuesday evening when the smell of the decomposed body became severe, he informed his father about the incident. The father called the neighbours and they informed the police," said SM Qasim Abidi, Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police, Lucknow.
His father, an armyman, is currently posted in West Bengal.
Initially, the boy cooked up a fake story and told his father that his mother was shot dead by an electrician who had visited the house for some work.
"He told the police the same story. But we investigated and found this was totally fictional. We then took the boy into custody," Mr Abidi said.
The teenager confessed to the crime during his interrogation, he said.
