An invitation for a 'drink on the border' from his friend cost a Brahmanbaria youth dearly.
The youth Antar Chandra Sarkar has later been been sent to a jail in Tripura.
According to local media, Tapan Chandra Sarkar, a friend of Antar Chandra Sarkar went to Tripura from Bangladesh on a valid visa on September 27.
Tapan missed Antar, who doesn't have a passport, and called up him to cross the barbed-wire fence along the international border in Kamalasagar, police said.
Responding to Tapan's call, Antar illegally entered the Indian territory. They sat near a pond along the border on the Indian side on Sunday to have liquor.
Antar would have returned to Bangladesh. But a jawan posted at the border caught them.
BSF later handed them over to the Madhupur police station from where Tapan was released after he produced his passport and visa while Antar was shown arrested.
