AL's 22nd nat'l council on Dec 24

The 22nd national council of the ruling party will be held on December 24 at Suhrawardy Udyan in the capital, Awami League Central Working Committee decided on Friday.

The decision came in a meeting of the committee, chaired by Awami League President and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, at the premier's official residence Gono Bhaban, reports BSS.

After the meeting, Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader informed journalists that the council will be held on a single day this time.

He said that the inaugural session will be held in the morning, while the council session will be held in the afternoon to be followed by a colourful cultural function in the evening.

Awami League President Sheikh Hasina will deliver the welcome address in the inaugural session.

Quader said the party president gave directives to hold the council in a simple ceremony to maintain austerity in view of the global crisis.

The party's previous national council was held on December 20-21, 2019 at the historic Suhrawardy Udyan here this afternoon.
