Ruhul Kabir Rizvi, Senior Joint Secretary General of BNP, alleged that the Awami League has disrespected Tajuddin Ahmad, a key figure in Bangladesh`s independence movement.
Speaking at a press conference held at the BNP central office in Nayapaltan on Monday, Rizvi stated, "Through this disrespect, the entire liberation war has been insulted."
Directing his remarks towards Awami League`s General Secretary, Obaidul Quader, Rizvi criticized the party`s governance, accusing them of undermining the values of freedom and democracy. He urged Quader not to mislead the public.
Rizvi further suggested that Quader`s reference to Bangabandhu`s transfer of power on March 23, 1971, was an attempt to target Ziaur Rahman due to frustration over power dynamics in Pakistan.
Describing statements from Awami League leaders as "absurd" and "fabricated," Rizvi criticized their ministers for spreading falsehoods.
He also condemned Quader`s remarks as misleading and anti-democratic, asserting that BNP remains unaffected by Awami League`s stance. Rizvi concluded by suggesting that Quader`s statements highlight Awami League`s opposition to independence.
