Supreme Court lawyer Mohammad Nurul Amin Mia died after falling ill during a case hearing at the High Court on Monday.
The incident occurred around 12 pm at Bench No. 25 of the High Court Annex, lawyer Sardar Zakir Hossain confirmed.
Eyewitnesses said that Nurul Amin suddenly collapsed while the proceedings were underway. Colleagues rushed him to a hospital, where doctors declared him dead.
As a mark of respect, judicial activities in both the Appellate and High Court divisions were suspended for the rest of the day.
Nurul Amin had been practicing law at the Supreme Court since receiving his certificate in 1995. He became a member of the Supreme Court Bar Association in 2001.
