A delegation from the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) has met with the Election Commission (EC) to learn about the preparations for the upcoming 13th National Parliament election.
The meeting took place on Sunday, February 9, at 3:30 PM in the conference room of the Election Building in Agargaon.
Attending the meeting from the Election Commission were the Chief Election Commissioner, A. M. M. Nasiruddin, along with Election Commissioners Abdur Rahmanel Mashud, Begum Tahmida Ahmed, Anwarul Islam Sarker, Abul Fazal Mohammad Sanaullah, and EC Secretary Akhtar Ahmed.
On the BNP side, the delegation included Standing Committee members Nazrul Islam Khan, Salahuddin Ahmed, and Selima Rahman.
This meeting marked the first time the new Election Commission, formed last November, has had an official discussion with the BNP.
The new five-member commission is led by retired Secretary A. M. M. Nasiruddin and took office after political changes.
This was their first formal interaction with the BNP since taking charge.
Before the formal meeting, the BNP representatives had a brief chat with the Chief Election Commissioner Nasiruddin in his office.
The official discussions began in the conference room at 3:30 PM.
Salahuddin Ahmed, a member of the BNP team, shared his thoughts before the meeting, saying,
"We are here to discuss various topics, especially the preparations for the national election. We want to get more details on the Election Commission’s work regarding the parliamentary elections."
