During a rally on Sunday, February 23, held at the Thakurgaon Public Library ground, BNP Vice-Chairman Shamsuzzaman Dudu sharply criticized Dr. Muhammad Yunus‍‍` government, stating that it has not been able to achieve any meaningful results in the six months it has been in power.

According to Dudu, the government has failed to reduce rice prices or provide job opportunities for the youth, and he questioned, “What’s the benefit of keeping Dr. Yunus?”

Addressing the crowd, Dudu raised four main demands: an immediate election roadmap, making essential goods affordable, improving law and order, and other urgent reforms.

He emphasized that BNP is ready for the challenges ahead, adding, “BNP is a party that is always ready for challenges, and the world knows this. Allah has approved it. When elections are held, BNP will come to power this year and will also secure power in the next election.”

The Vice-Chairman also expressed his frustration with the delay in elections, saying, “We have been waiting for 17 years for a fair election. Those currently in power are asking, ‘Why are we in such a hurry for elections?’”

He also took aim at student coordinators, reflecting on the past and saying, “We fought for democracy in the 90s. Even as MPs and ministers, we couldn’t afford the cars that they are now riding in, or the plots they’ve gotten in Rupayan Tower. Where is all this money coming from?”

At the rally, speakers emphasized the need for the swift announcement of the election roadmap.

Along with Shamsuzzaman Dudu, the event was attended by Abdul Khalek, Assistant General Secretary of BNP‍‍`s Rangpur Division, Mirza Faisal Amin, General Secretary of Thakurgaon District BNP, and Paygam Ali, Joint General Secretary of the district.
