BNP senior leader Dr. Abdul Moyeen Khan has praised the interim government for forming a new Election Commission, calling it an important move towards a fair election. "We thank the interim government for taking a commendable initiative.

They have established an Election Commission, which, I believe, is their most significant reform," Dr. Moyeen said during a visit to the grave of BNP founder Ziaur Rahman.

He told reporters that reform is an ongoing process.

"The reforms we are undertaking today will need to be modified tomorrow," he added, suggesting that the current steps are part of a continuous effort to improve.

Dr. Moyeen also highlighted that the interim government was given a mandate by a student-led mass movement.

He explained that this movement has tasked the government with changing the country from a dictatorship into a democracy.

"This is their primary responsibility and mandate. To fulfill this mandate, a fair election must be held, after carrying out the necessary reforms," he emphasized.

As a member of the BNP Standing Committee, Dr. Moyeen said that his party fully supports the interim government and its reforms.

He encouraged the government to avoid any unnecessary delays in holding the national election and focus only on the most needed reforms.

"We urge the government not to unnecessarily delay the holding of a credible election and to implement only the necessary reforms," he repeated.

Dr. Moyeen expressed hope that the next election would give people back their voting and other rights.

"The true representatives of people will be elected, and an elected parliament will be established.

This will pave the way for the formation of a government that truly represents the people," he stated.

Earlier in the day, Dr. Moyeen and Mahidur Rahman, a BNP Chairperson‍‍`s adviser and former UK chapter BNP president, paid their respects to Ziaur Rahman by placing a wreath at his grave. They also offered prayers for the late leader.
