Amar Bangladesh Party, AB Party, held a demonstration on Tuesday afternoon demanding resignation of this unelected government and suspension of the farcical election schedule. The protest rally paraded through the streets of Shegun Bagicha, Kakrail, Naya Polton and Bijoy Nogor area of the capital.

Tajul Islam, an advocate of Supreme Court of Bangladesh and a Joint Convenor of AB Party, warned the ruling party militias not to act like the collaborators during our glorious liberation war when they used to help the attacking army to locate the freedom fighters. Likewise ruling party thugs, Rajakars and Al-badar of 2023, are now helping the law enforcement agencies to find out the pro-democracy activists and get them detained on trumped up charges. This harassment would not save the ruling party at the end.

Mojibur Rahman Monju, Member Secretary of AB Party, the ruling party has turned this election campaign into a comical circus. Dummy candidates and fake parties have all been exposed to the popular electorates. Every candidates participating in this staged election are all but corrupt robbers of our national wealth. This election became the benchmark between parrots and betrayers like in our liberation war in 1971.

Asaduzzaman Fuaad, a barrister-at-law and Joint Member Secretary of the party, said that the ruling party goons in different districts are forcefully collecting the state-issued welfare cards for various benefits to help struggling working class across the country. The financial assistance programs are funded from state coffers; tax payers money cannot be treated like party election funds. Rather than wasting hundreds of millions of worth public money, EC can simply declare the chosen candidates of the regime, it would save both money and lives.
