Amar Bangladesh Party, AB Party, pays tribute to the civil society members who had been killed during the liberation war of 1971.
Leaders and activists of AB Party laid floral wreath at the monument dedicated to the martyred intellectuals at Rayerbazar Memorial on Thursday morning.
Prof. Dr. Abdul Wahab Minar, a Joint Convenor of the AB Party, said that killing any number of civil society members during the freedom struggle never succeeded in history.
The current government should learn from history of our recent past and behave accordingly. Unlawful detention, extra-judicial killing, judicial harassment and gross human rights violations would not legitimise forthcoming farcical election.
Mojibur Rahman Monju, Member Secretary of the AB Party, said that nothing cannot be more unethical than killing and suppressing own citizens, only to stay in power by any means.
Even the 1970 election, held under a military dictator, was credible and acceptable by the carry ruling party, while we are unable to hold a free and fair election after good fifty years, the very reason for current political stalemate.
