BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has called upon the political parties to form a united movement to demand elections under a neutral caretaker government.
BNP Secretary General said this at the Sadar Thana Branch BNP conference at Mirza Ruhul Amin Auditorium in Thakurgaon today in the afternoon.
Mirza Fakhrul Islam said, "Unbiased elections will not be possible if the Awami League government is in power. That is why we have been repeatedly saying that all political parties should come together and organize elections under a neutral caretaker government."
Alleging that the Awami League government has taken a stand against the people, the BNP General Secretary said, "They do not care about the interests of the people, they have destroyed all the hopes and aspirations of the people. This government cannot be allowed to remain in power."
Mirza Fakhrul also said, “Our words are very clear, the Awami League government must resign. Parliament should be declared dissolved and power should be handed over to an impartial caretaker government.”
Demanding the formation of a new Election Commission, BNP Secretary General said, "The current Election Commission does not have the power to conduct impartial elections. So this commission needs to be changed. A new election commission should be formed and an election acceptable to all should be held with the participation of all parties."
