Bangladesh’s popular singer, songwriter, and actor Tahsan Khan has surprised fans with an unexpected announcement regarding his musical career.
After more than 25 years on stage and a massive social media following—nearly 10 million on Facebook and over 3.5 million on Instagram—Tahsan’s accounts on both platforms have suddenly gone offline, without any detailed explanation to his followers.
During a concert in Melbourne, Australia, Tahsan informed the audience that this would not be his “last concert” but could mark the end of his touring days. Speaking into the microphone mid-performance, he said, “It’s written in many places that this is my last concert. It’s not the last concert, it’s the last tour. Slowly, I might draw a close to my music career. You can’t jump around on stage forever! My daughter is growing up, and I wonder how it will feel to sing on stage now.”
The announcement left the audience stunned. Many attendees were visibly emotional, with some wiping away tears, yet Tahsan continued performing and completed the concert. When contacted the following day, he explained briefly, “I have taken this decision to focus on a simple life.”
Tahsan is currently on an Australian tour celebrating his silver jubilee in professional music. He has already captivated audiences in Brisbane, Adelaide, and Sydney, performing his most popular songs alongside thousands of fans. Despite his enduring popularity, the Melbourne concert brought a mix of joy and melancholy for his followers. The final show of the tour is scheduled in Perth, after which Tahsan has hinted he will gradually step back from public performances.
Tahsan has repeatedly expressed that music is an emotional core of his life. However, age, priorities, and his role as a father have influenced his decision. He noted that performing energetically on stage no longer feels natural and that family responsibilities now take precedence.
Tahsan first gained widespread recognition with the band Black, formed in 1998 by friends Jon Kabir, Zahan, and Toni, with Tahsan and Miraj joining later. Their debut album Amar Prithibi (2002) became a massive hit, shaping the Bangladeshi rock scene and winning the hearts of the nation’s youth.
The singer’s announcement has sparked extensive discussion on social media. Fans have expressed sadness and disbelief, with many hoping for a future return. However, Tahsan said that there is no plan to return to music.
