Tahsan visits Rohingya camp

Popular Bangladeshi musician and the first Bangladeshi UNHCR Goodwill Ambassador Tahsan Khan visited the Rohingya refugee camps in Cox's Bazar on World Refugee Day (June 20).

He visited various places inside the camp and inaugurated the first ICU (Intensive Care Unit) inside the camp.

The singer was also featured in a recent video of the visit published by UNHCR Bangladesh’s official Facebook page. In the video, Tahsan said:  "I would like to urge, on behalf of all these Rohingya refugees, to all the world leaders - please come together and make an effort to ensure that they can return home.”

“And that can only be possible through international political pressure on the regime that has been persecuting the Rohingya people for so long,” he added.

He also said: “I hope these words make some sense and we see a future where the Bangladeshi people can bid farewell to the refugees and we can live harmoniously as neighbours."

He also observed the cultural activities conducted by Omar’s Film School, a platform created by Rohingya refugees who are training Rohingya youths in photography and videography. The organisation is also promoting Covid-19 awareness among the refugees through music, photography and educational films. Tahsan applauded their dedication and will to spread awareness.
