The veteran batter needed just 28 runs to reach the 6000-run mark, which he accomplished with a boundary off Keshav Maharaj.
Mushfiqur is not only the leading run-scorer for Bangladesh in Test cricket but also holds the record for the most Test appearances by a Bangladeshi, having played in 93 matches.
Coming to the crease after the dismissal of Shanto for 24 runs, Mushfiqur injected positive momentum into the innings by regularly taking singles and doubles, while also capitalizing on boundary opportunities.
At the close of play for the day, he remained unbeaten on 31 runs off 26 balls, bringing his total Test runs to 6003.
