Thimphu, August 27, 2025: Bangladesh continued their fine run in the SAFF U-17 Women’s Championship as Surovi Akter Priti netted a brilliant hat-trick to seal a 4-1 victory over Nepal at the Changlimithang Stadium on Wednesday. The win followed their 3-0 triumph against the same opponent in the opening match.
Bangladesh dominated possession from the outset but struggled to find the breakthrough early on, while Nepal failed to create clear chances. The deadlock was finally broken in the 38th minute when Thuinuu Marma dribbled past three defenders before slotting past the goalkeeper.
Six minutes later, Priti doubled the lead with a composed finish from the left flank. However, Nepal reduced the deficit in first-half stoppage time when Bhumika Budathoki fired a powerful strike from outside the box, capitalizing on a defensive lapse, to make it 2-1 at the break.
The second half saw Bangladesh maintain their dominance. In the 71st minute, Priti struck again, tapping in from the far post after a corner. Despite heavy rain shortly afterward, Bangladesh kept control of the game. Priti completed her hat-trick in the 86th minute, converting a Purnima Marma cross with ease to put the result beyond doubt.
With three wins and one defeat from four matches, Bangladesh now have nine points and sit second in the four-team standings, behind unbeaten India, who top the table with a perfect record.
Bangladesh will face Bhutan in their fifth match on August 29.
