Rubaba Dowla replaces Isfaq Ahsan as BCB director

The National Sports Council (NSC) has appointed corporate executive and sports organizer Rubaba Dowla as a director of the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB), replacing businessman Isfaq Ahsan, whose nomination was withdrawn due to his alleged political affiliation with the Awami League.

Sources confirmed that the decision was made late on Monday night—just hours after the BCB elections concluded. The NSC, which nominates two directors to the board, officially named Rubaba Dowla as one of its representatives on Tuesday.

Rubaba Dowla currently serves as the Country Director for Oracle Bangladesh, Nepal, and Bhutan. She previously held senior leadership roles at major telecom operators Grameenphone and Airtel Bangladesh.

Alongside her corporate career, Rubaba has been actively involved in sports administration. From 2009 to 2015, she served as President of the Bangladesh Badminton Federation, and she is also a board member of Special Olympics Bangladesh.

During her tenure as Chief Communication Officer and Chief Marketing Officer at Grameenphone (1998–2009), she became a well-known figure in the country’s cricketing circles. Grameenphone was the official sponsor of the Bangladesh national cricket team from 2003 to 2011, and Rubaba played a key role in establishing the National Cricket Academy in Mirpur in 2007, a joint initiative between Grameenphone and the BCB.
