Former Australian fast bowler Shaun Tait has been appointed as the new pace bowling coach of the Bangladesh national cricket team.

The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has signed a contract with Tait that will run until November 2027. He is expected to join the team later this month.

Expressing his excitement, Tait said, “It’s a great time to be joining the Bangladesh team. They are entering a new era, as has been frequently mentioned, with many promising young fast bowlers. That’s a great sign. But this is international cricket, not a development squad. Everyone wants results — and that will be my focus. I want to help the team win as many matches as possible.”

Tait recently served as the head coach of Chattogram Kings during the 2024–25 Bangladesh Premier League (BPL), guiding the team to a runner-up finish.

He played a key role in developing the team’s pace bowlers, particularly working closely with young talents like Hasan Mahmud, Shoriful Islam, and Khaled Ahmed.

Tait also brings experience from his coaching stints with the Afghanistan and Pakistan national teams.

Tait replaces South African coach Allan Donald, whose contract was initially set to run until February next year.

However, Donald and the BCB mutually agreed to part ways earlier than planned.
