Former president Mohammed Sahabuddin has left Bangabhaban, the official residence and office of the president.

He left Bangabhaban at noon on Sunday, accompanied by his wife, Rebecca Sultana.

Sources at Bangabhaban confirmed the matter. According to the sources, the convoy carrying the former president departed Bangabhaban at 2:23 pm for Green Villa, his residence in Gulshan, the capital.

On Friday, the 22nd president, Mohammed Sahabuddin, resigned from office. He was elected unopposed as the president with the nomination of the Awami League and took oath on April 24, 2023. Accordingly, he left Bangabhaban nearly 21 months before the end of his term.

After leaving Bangabhaban, Mohammed Sahabuddin is moving into his own residence in Gulshan, Dhaka. The house had been undergoing preparations for several days to make it suitable for living. Essential belongings of his family have also been moved there.
