Singapore arrive in Dhaka ahead of crucial Asian Cup qualifier

The Singapore national football team has arrived in Dhaka to face Bangladesh in the third round of the AFC Asian Cup qualifiers.

The visiting side landed in the capital on Saturday night and is set to begin their preparations immediately.

Singapore will hold their first training session today (Sunday) at the Armed Police Battalion ground in Uttara from 4 PM to 6:30 PM, in a closed-door setting.

Their final practice will take place on Monday at the match venue, the Dhaka National Stadium, from 5:45 PM to 6:45 PM. The highly anticipated match is scheduled for Tuesday at 7 PM.

Excitement is building among fans, particularly at the prospect of seeing English-born midfielder Hamza Choudhury and Canada-based Shamit Shome take the field together in Bangladesh colors.

Singapore, ranked 161st in the FIFA rankings, arrives in Dhaka on a high note after ending a six-match winless streak with a commanding 3-0 victory over the Maldives, who are ranked 164th.

Bangladesh, currently ranked 183rd, is also in confident spirits. They recently defeated 181st-ranked Bhutan 2-0 in a preparatory match on home soil.

Furthermore, a goalless draw against regional powerhouse India in the qualifiers has boosted the home team’s morale ahead of Tuesday’s clash.
