Revolutionary and romantic poet Rudra Mohammad Shahidullah was posthumously awarded the Ekushey Padak for his contribution to language and literature. Besides, 20 other prominent citizens of the country have received Ekushey Padak-2024 in recognition for their important contributions in various fields.
The list was published on Tuesday (February 13) in a circular signed by Irin Farzana, Deputy Secretary of the Ministry of Culture.
This time, two people received Ekushey Padak posthumously in language movement category. They are - Ashrafuddin Ahmad and brave freedom fighter Hatem Ali Mia (posthumous).
11 people received this award in various categories of art. Jalal Uddin Khan (posthumous), brave freedom fighter Kalyani Ghosh, Bidit Lal Das (posthumous), Andrew Kishore (posthumous) and Shubhra Deb got the award for music. Dolly Zahur and MA Alamgir in acting, Khan Md. Mustafa, Waleed (Shimul Mustafa) and Rupa Chakraborty in reciting, Shibli Mohammad in dance and Shahjahan Ahmed Bikash in painting.
Kawsar Chowdhury got this award in the production and archiving of documentary films related to the liberation war, Md. Ziaul Haque and Alhaj Rafiq Ahmed in social service.
4 people have received Ekushey Padak in language and literature. They are - Muhammad Samad, Lutfar Rahman Riton, Minar Mansoor and Rudra Mohammad Shahidullah (posthumous). In addition, Professor Dr. Jinbodhi Bhikkhu is in this list.
