The Public Service Commission (PSC), which typically releases the Bangladesh Civil Service (BCS) notification on November 30 each year, is considering an earlier release date this time around. Sources suggest that PSC has been instructed to proceed with recruitment for 3,460 vacant posts, as requested by various cadre-controlling ministries and departments for the 47th BCS. If confirmed, this would mark the largest intake in the last decade of BCS exams.
A PSC official confirmed to Prothom Alo that preparations for the 47th BCS notification are underway. The Ministry of Public Administration has recently sent a letter to the PSC, urging the recruitment process for 3,460 vacancies to move forward. The official added that the notification is expected to be issued soon.
Although PSC regulations typically mandate the release of BCS notifications on November 30, PSC Chairperson Mobaswer Monem noted that preparations are ongoing, with the final decision set to be made after an upcoming commission meeting.
Additionally, changes in the quota system for the 47th BCS may be on the horizon. Following a ruling by the Appellate Division on July 21, which overturned a High Court order reinstating quotas, 93% of government jobs will now be filled based on merit, with the remaining 7% allocated as follows: 5% for freedom fighters` families, and 1% each for minorities, people with disabilities, and third-gender individuals.
The interim government has also set the age limit for BCS applicants at 32 years and capped the number of attempts at four. These provisions are expected to be included in the upcoming 47th BCS notification.
