A 44-year-old businessman was stabbed to death by allegedly a mugger in the capital's Uttara area in the early hours of Friday, reports UNB.
The deceased was identified as M Sharif Ullah, hailed from Madhupur village of Ramganj upazila of Lakshmipur. He used to live with his wife and two sons in the Deora area in Tongi West Police Station of Gazipur.
Police arrested the mugger named Abdus Samad, 38, from the spot of the crime, said Mohammad Mohsin, officer-in-charge (OC) of Uttara West police station.
"The killing took place at an ATM booth of Dutch-Bangla Bank located on Sonargaon Janapath road at Uttara sector-11 around 12:45am while the businessman was withdrawing money, leaving him critically injured" added the OC.
He was rushed to the Uttara Modern Medical College Hospital where doctors declared him dead upon arrival.
Following the incident, local people detained the alleged mugger and handed him over to the police, said the OC.
"A case has been filed in this regard," he added.
