Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader said, today that the purpose of the Digital Security Act (DSA), which was enacted by the government, was to ensure digital security, not to obstruct freedom of expression.
He said in a statement that Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina had provided unrestricted freedom of expression for all people, including journalists.
He said that the DSA was created by the government to deal with all types of crimes, including anti-state activity on digital platforms.
Quader made the remark while criticizing a recent statement by BNP Secretary General, Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir.
He accused Fakhrul of cooperating with cyber criminals by making anti-DSA statements.
