BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia`s family has applied to the home ministry for permission to take her overseas for better medical treatment.
According to party sources, her brother Shamim Iskandar applied to the home ministry on September 25 for her permanent bail in graft cases, as well as permission to send her overseas for treatment.
BNP officials have demanded that Khaleda, be taken abroad for treatment immediately, claiming that her condition is severe.
The BNP chairperson is now being treated at the capital`s Evercare Hospital.
On March 25, last year, the government released Khaleda after suspending her prison sentence for six months.
Later, her jail sentence was suspended twice more, and the government issued further notices to that effect. According to the notification, Khaleda will be treated at home and will be forbidden to go abroad during this time.
