Two members of the Kuki-Chin National Front (KNF) lost their lives during an encounter with the joint forces in Bandarban Sadar upazila on Thursday morning. The identities of the deceased are yet to be ascertained.
The clash unfolded in Sharonpara, situated in ward no. 6 of Suyalok union parishad. Reports from local and police authorities indicate that the joint forces were conducting operations in the area as part of their counter-terrorism efforts. During the operation, KNF members engaged in gunfire with the joint forces.
In response to the attack, the joint forces retaliated in self-defense, resulting in the deaths of two KNF members at the scene.
A senior police official confirmed awareness of the incident, stating that further details will be disclosed upon the conclusion of the operation.
Additionally, three members of the Kuki Chin National Front (KNF) were also reported to have been killed in a separate gunfight with the army along the border of Rowangchhari and Ruma upazilas in Bandarban on Sunday.
