Gas supplies to the northern districts of the Paschimanchal Gas Company Limited (PGCL) was halted last night due to line maintenance work in the Hatikumrul area of Sirajganj.
According to PGCL sources, gas supplies to all categories of customers in the northern regions would be interrupted for 60 hours, till Sunday morning.
The stoppage was caused by the replacement of a 30-inch pipe in Hatikumrul`s gas transmission line, according to PGCL Manager Shailaja Nanda Basak.
The work started at 8:00 pm yesterday and will be completed by Sunday morning, he said, adding that supply will resume at 8:00 am on Sunday.
According to sources, the northern districts of PGCL serve 1,29,411 consumers. There are ten power plants, 53 captive power stations, 31 CNG stations, 133 industrial establishments, 332 commercial establishments, and 1,28,852 residential users.
The PGCL management apologized for the short inconvenience.
