Inoculation of the second dose as part of mass immunisation drive will kick off September 7, said Directorate General of Health Services (DGSH) Professor Doctor Abul Bashar Mohammed Khurshid Alam.
He was speaking to a programme held at Drug administration auditorium at Mohakhali in the capital on Wednesday (August 25).
The ceremony was organised to hand over ventilators gifted by expatriate Bangladeshis.
The health DG said, “Everyone will be given the dose at respective centres where they received the first dose. As many as 60 lakh doses of the Pfizer vaccine will arrive in the country soon.”
“Efforts are underway to purchase Rapid RT PCR. Special equipment is required to operate PCR machine. We are trying to collect some of those machines,” added he.
Bangladeshi expats in the US and Canada sent 562 portable ventilators. Prime Minister’s personal physician Doctor ABM Abdullah received the gifts at the airport. Out of them, 300 are now being distributed.
