BNP accuses govt of failing to control situation in Gopalganj

The Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) has strongly criticized the government over the attack on the National Citizens‍‍` Party (NCP) rally in Gopalganj.

The party accused the government of failing to control the situation and expressed concern over the violent assault on NCP leaders and activists.

In a press statement issued on Thursday, July 17, BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir conveyed the party‍‍`s official position, citing decisions made during the BNP Standing Committee meeting held the previous night.

BNP condemned the killing of four individuals during the attack, allegedly carried out by supporters of the ruling Awami League and unidentified assailants. The party expressed deep outrage and sympathy for the victims.

The Standing Committee believes the attack was a premeditated attempt by pro-Hasina fascist elements to sabotage the democratic movement.

It also noted that the government‍‍`s imposition of Section 144 and a curfew in the area was part of a broader scheme to disrupt democratic activities.

BNP urged all political parties to act with utmost caution while planning their programs, warning that carelessness could create opportunities for anti-democratic forces.
