BNP Standing Committee member Salahuddin Ahmed has alleged that the government’s indifference and failure to maintain law and order has led to the rise of "mobocracy" across the country.

“We initiated the July student mass uprising to establish democracy. But now, what we are witnessing is not democracy but mobocracy,” he said.

He made these remarks on Thursday afternoon during a protest rally in front of the party‍‍`s central office in Nayapaltan, Dhaka.

The rally and demonstration were organized by the Jatiyatabadi Jubo Dal, BNP‍‍`s youth wing, to protest against the deteriorating law and order situation and the alleged inaction of the interim government.

Accusing the government of attempting to tarnish the image of BNP, Salahuddin said, “Since the formation of the interim government on August 5, we have wished for its success and extended our cooperation. But today, the democratic force of this mass uprising is being challenged. We are observing an orchestrated effort to create issues and discredit the nationalist BNP, which stands against fascism in Bangladesh.”

He also called for preserving national unity, stating, “The national unity forged for the restoration of democracy must be upheld at any cost.”

Addressing the government, Salahuddin warned, “Those conspiring to delay the election must not be given any shelter or support. The government must avoid creating a perception that it is favoring a particular party.”
