Khaleda Zia shifted to cabin from CCU

BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia, undergoing treatment at Evercare Hospital in the city, was shifted to a cabin from the Coronary Care Unit (CCU) on Sunday night.

“Khaleda Zia was taken to a cabin from the CCU around 8:30 pm as per her medical board advice,” said AZM Zahid Hossain, a member of the medical board.

He, however, said all the facilities of the CCU have been ensured in the cabin. “The nurses of the CCU will take care of her in the cabin.”

Zahid said there is no improvement in Khaleda’s health condition. “Her condition is the same as before and all the parameters of her health are fluctuating as in the past.”

The 76-year-old former prime minister was admitted to the Evercare Hospital on 13 November. She was taken to the CCU the following day as her condition turned critical due to internal bleeding.

Her medical board members said Khaleda immediately needs to go abroad for better treatment as she was diagnosed with liver cirrhosis.

On behalf of her family, Khaleda’s younger brother, Shamim Iskander, submitted an application to the home ministry on 11 November urging the government to allow her to go abroad for better treatment.

The government still did not dispose of the application while the ministers are saying the BNP chief is unlikely to go abroad until she files a fresh application returning to jail.
