The massive fire that broke out at Dhaka’s Mohammadpur Krishi Market early Thursday, was finally doused after almost 28 hours on Friday morning.
The fire was doused around 7:30am, Anwarul Islam, warehouse inspector of FSCD headquarters (media cell) confirmed.
The fire broke out at the market around 3:43 am on Thursday and spread quickly.
Seventeen firefighting units worked to fully douse the blaze. It was brought under control around 9:25 am on Thursday.
WASA, Bangladesh Air Force, Army, Navy, BGB, and police assisted the firefighters in dousing the fire.
Meanwhile, a five member committee was formed to investigate the massive fire that gutted hundreds of shops.
The committee headed by Fire Service and Civil Defence (FSCD) department’s Director (Operations and maintenance) Lieutenant Colonel Mohammad Tajul Islam Chowdhury was asked to submit a report within 15 working days, Anwarul Islam added.
The names of the other members of the committee could not be known immediately.
