Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader has instructed the concerned parties to make preparations to make the Eid journey of Eid-ul-Azhar comfortable and smooth.
He said this during a meeting with officials of the Bridge Department and Bangladesh Bridge Authority at Setubhaban in the capital today.
The Bridge Minister said, "Cattle, animal carts and rain will be associated with the upcoming Eid journey. So, Eid-ul-Azha is more challenging than Eid-ul-Fitr. Preparations should be made for that purpose from now." He said that Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will inaugurate the Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Tunnel built at the bottom of Karnaphuli in Chittagong by September.
Stating that the Eid journey was comfortable due to the collective efforts of this year, he further said, “The road was good, passable and usable. That's why the Eid journey has been comfortable. Traffic jams are not as bad as they used to be. Especially in the BRT project area, the traffic congestion that was feared did not happen. I was able to celebrate Eid without much traffic jam.” He also added that this clause should be made more positive in the coming days.
