The government has introduced a new policy to include the families of those injured or martyred in the July Uprising of 2024 in the existing admission quota for government secondary schools.
This new decision adds to the already established quota for the children of freedom fighters and martyred freedom fighters.
In previous years, a 5% quota was reserved exclusively for the children of freedom fighters and those who had sacrificed their lives for the country.
However, under the recent directive from the Ministry of Education, this 5% quota will now also benefit the families of the injured and martyred from the July Uprising 2024.
The updated directive, which was issued in an official order from the Ministry, specifies that children of freedom fighters, martyred freedom fighters, and the family members of those impacted by the July Uprising will be entitled to 5% of seats in government secondary schools.
Applicants must provide verified documents, such as attested copies of the necessary certificates or gazettes, with their admission forms.
During the admission process, they will need to show original copies for verification.
Freedom fighter certificates must be issued by the Ministry of Liberation War Affairs, while the verification for the July Uprising martyrs and injured individuals will need to be carefully examined before finalizing the admissions.
In cases where no eligible candidates from these categories are found, the seats reserved under the 5% quota will be filled from the general merit list. No seat will be left vacant.
To ensure that this policy is fully implemented, the Directorate of Secondary and Higher Education has instructed all concerned officials to follow the Ministry`s directive and ensure that the new quota is properly enforced.
This move marks a significant step in acknowledging the sacrifices made during the July Uprising, adding another layer of recognition to those who fought for justice and freedom, alongside the contributions of the nation`s freedom fighters.
