A Russian citizen working at the Rooppur Nuclear Power Project in Ishurdi, Pabna, has died after suddenly falling ill.
Churkin Vladimir, 40, was taken to hospital after collapsing on Friday evening but died on the way, said Ishwardi Police chief Asadur Rahman.
He worked for Atomtekh Energo, an affiliate of Russia’s state nuclear corporation Rosatom, and lived in a residential building inside the project’s Green City complex.
Police said Vladimir experienced chest pain while exercising inside the residential complex on Friday evening and collapsed shortly afterwards. His colleagues rushed him to Ishwardi Upazila Health Complex, where doctors declared him dead.
Officer Asadur Rahman said no visible injury marks were found on the body during the inquest.
He is suspected of having died of a heart attack. However, the exact cause of death will be confirmed after a post-mortem, he said.
The body has been sent to Pabna Medical College Hospital for postmortem examination, and legal procedures will be completed after the report is received, he added.
Authorities said arrangements will be made to repatriate the body to Russia through the relevant embassy and project officials.
