Two Bangladeshis shot dead by BSF, again

Two Bangladeshis were shot dead by the Indian Border Security Force (BSF). They were shot dead by BSF at the Burirhat border in Goral union of Kaliganj upazila in Lalmonirhat around 5:00 am on Friday (November 12).

The deceased were identified Md. Bhashani (40), son of Altaf Hossain from Malgora village of Lohakuchi area in Kaliganj Upazila and Idris Ali (42) son of Muslim Uddin from the same village.

The bodies of the two Bangladeshis are still lying on the border area on the Indian side of the border.

The two were shot dead when BSF opened fired while they were trying to transport cows from India through the India-Bangladesh border. 

Members of the 75th BSF Battalion Satbhandaria Camp in Kochbihar, India patrolling the area, shot noticing them as they were crossing the border in the early hours of Friday (November 12). 

Mahamudul Islam, chairman of the Goral Union Parishad (UP), said BSF members opened fire on the duo as they were crossing the Indian border in the early hours of Friday (November 12) to fetch cows, killing them on the spot.

No statement has been received so far from the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) of Lalmonirhat 15 Battalion in this regard.

On Friday, at about 3:00 am, miscreants from Bangladesh side ventured into Indian territory and tried to smuggle cattle heads by establishing improvised bamboo cantilever. BSF domination ahead of fence warned them to go back, but miscreants didn't pay heed on BSF warning, claimed the Indian High Commission (IHC).

Then BSF troops utilised non lethal munition to deter the miscreants, but they attacked on BSF troops with iron dah and sticks. Sensing imminent threat to the life, BSF party fired in air towards miscreants. Later on search, dead bodies of two unknown miscreants were found between border fence and International Boundary, stated the officials of Indian High Commission in connection to the inciodent.
