ECNEC approves 5 projects worth Tk 7,003 crore

The Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (ECNEC), chaired by Prime Minister and ECNEC Chairperson Tarique Rahman, has approved five development projects involving a total cost of Tk 7,003.36 crore.

The meeting was held on Tuesday at the Cabinet Room of the Bangladesh Secretariat, according to an official statement.

A notification from the Planning Ministry said the approved projects include Tk 4,536.10 crore from government funds and Tk 2,467.26 crore in project loans. Of the five projects, three are new and two are revised.

The approved projects include the “Supporting Infrastructure Project for Chinese Economic and Industrial Zone” under the Prime Minister’s Office; the “Rehabilitation (1st Phase) of Muhuri-Kahua Flood Control, Drainage and Irrigation Project in Feni district” under the Ministry of Water Resources; the “Development of Korotoa River System” project; the “Protection of Talbaria area in Mirpur upazila and Shilaidaha Union in Kumarkhali upazila of Kushtia district from erosion of the Padma River (1st revision)” project; and the “Establishment of one Technical School and College in 100 upazilas (3rd revised)” project under the Ministry of Education.

The meeting was part of the 13th ECNEC meeting of the 2025–26 fiscal year and the fifth under the current government. Senior officials including Finance and Planning Minister Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury, Local Government Minister Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, Foreign Minister Dr. Khalilur Rahman, Industry, Textiles and Commerce Minister Khandaker Abdus Mukti, Road Transport and Bridges, Railways and Shipping Minister Sheikh Rabiul Alam, Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed, Education and Primary and Mass Education Minister Dr. A N M Ehsanul Haque Milan, Water Resources Minister Md. Shahid Uddin Chowdhury Anee, Planning State Minister Md. Zunaed Abdur Rahim Sakis, and other senior officials were present.
