Business leaders from Bangladesh and Pakistan have expressed optimism over the potential for enhanced trade cooperation, especially in the pharmaceutical, surgical equipment, electronics, and industrial machinery sectors.
Both sides agreed that joint ventures could bring substantial benefits and deepen bilateral economic ties.
These views were shared during a networking session held on Thursday morning in Dhaka’s Motijheel, organized by the Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI).
The event brought together local entrepreneurs and a visiting delegation of Pakistani business representatives.
The session was chaired by FBCCI Administrator Md. Hafizur Rahman, with Acting High Commissioner of Pakistan to Bangladesh, Muhammad Wasif, also in attendance.
Highlighting the importance of trade diversification between the two nations, Hafizur Rahman stated that sectors such as motor and electronic goods and intermediate industrial components are crucial for both countries.
He further emphasized the untapped potential in pharmaceuticals, surgical products, and textiles, calling for collaborative initiatives to leverage these opportunities.
Rahman added that the FBCCI and the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) would work jointly to strengthen trade relations and explore new avenues for cooperation.
Acting High Commissioner Muhammad Wasif echoed the sentiment, noting that there is significant room to grow trade and investment ties between the two countries.
He expressed hope that continued networking efforts between entrepreneurs would help identify and develop new business opportunities.
During the meeting, business representatives from both sides voiced interest in expanding cooperation through joint ventures in various sectors including pharmaceuticals, textiles, surgical equipment, electronics, and industrial machinery.
Also present at the event were former FBCCI director Nasrin Fatema Awwal, FBCCI Secretary General Md. Alamgir, Head of FBCCI International Affairs Wing Md. Zafar Iqbal NDC, and other leading business figures.
