Iran`s Ambassador to Bangladesh, Jalil Rahimi Jahanabadi, on Tuesday invited Nobel Peace Prize laureate Prof Muhammad Yunus to pay an official visit to Iran during a meeting at the Yunus Centre.
The invitation was extended as the two discussed regional peace, diplomacy and Bangladesh-Iran relations.
According to the Yunus Centre, Prof Yunus said dialogue and diplomacy remain the only viable path to achieving lasting peace and stability in the Middle East.
He said peace in the region is essential not only for its own development but also for global prosperity and stability.
During the meeting, Ambassador Jahanabadi praised Prof Yunus for leading Bangladesh`s interim government and steering the country through February`s peaceful election towards a democratic transition.
Prof Yunus also expressed his condolences over the death of Iran`s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and conveyed his solidarity with the Iranian people in their pursuit of the rights of a sovereign nation.
