The government has appointed the the former Inspector General of Police (IGP), Md Mainul Islam, as an ambassador.

This decision was announced on Tuesday, through a notification issued by the Ministry of Public Administration.

His service has been transferred to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for this purpose. However, the country to which he will be appointed as ambassador has not yet been disclosed. This information comes from a report by Prothom Alo.

Md. Mainul Islam was appointed as IGP on the night of August 6, following the fall of the Awami League government in the wake of a student-led uprising.

However, on November 20, he was replaced by retired police officer Baharul Alam as IGP. Now, the ex-IGP, Md. Mainul Islam, has been made an ambassador.
