Electricity generated in Nepal will now be transmitted to Bangladesh through the Indian grid, marking the first-ever trilateral power transaction between the three countries.
The milestone was jointly inaugurated by Md. Fouzul Kabir Khan, Adviser to Bangladesh’s Ministry of Power, Energy and Mineral Resources; Manohar Lal Khattar, Chief Minister of Haryana and Indian Minister for Power, and Housing and Urban Affairs; and Dipak Khadka, Nepal’s Minister of Energy, Water Resources, and Irrigation.
This groundbreaking development not only strengthens sub-regional energy connectivity but also sets a new benchmark in the South Asian power sector.
Randhir Jaiswal, spokesperson for India’s Ministry of External Affairs, confirmed the achievement, underscoring its importance in enhancing regional energy cooperation and connectivity.
