The United States Navy ship, USS Fitzgerald, has arrived in Bangladesh’s territorial waters for a three-day courtesy visit.
According to a statement from the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) on Wednesday, the visiting ship was welcomed by Bangladesh Navy vessel BNS Abu Ubaidah.
During the visit, the commander of the USS Fitzgerald held a courtesy meeting with the Commander of the Chittagong Naval Area and the Commander of the Bangladesh Navy Fleet, with senior officials from both countries present.
The visit provides an opportunity for naval personnel from both nations to exchange professional knowledge, skills, and experiences, as well as to observe each other’s operations and professional practices. This is expected to create an effective platform for mutual learning and operational cooperation.
Representatives from the US Embassy in Bangladesh were also present during the visit. The courtesy visit aims to facilitate professional exchanges, future training opportunities, and enhance bilateral naval cooperation between the two countries.
The USS Fitzgerald is scheduled to depart from Bangladesh waters on Friday, according to ISPR.
