The residential students of Zahurul Haque Hall at Dhaka University (DU) are currently facing trouble in using the internet since Hall Chhatra League leaders ruled out WiFi network company KS to provide service.
The President and General Secretary of Zahurul Haque Hall Chhatra League claimed that they made the decision after taking opinions from the students and administration.
However, the hall administration doesn’t know anything about the cancellation of the contract.
Golam Rabbani, a Mass Communication and Journalism Department student said, “Without having the speedy internet, it is difficult to join online activities both in academic and entertainment purpose. Four days have gone but the authority is yet to renew contact or bring a new connection.
Wishing to be unnamed, a student of the International Relations department at DU said, there might be some problem between the service provider and the new leaders of the hall, that’s why KS managed to flee anyhow.
He added that some departments still taking classes online. If the situation continues then students of those departments might be in misery.
Besides, we all have to search for different issues online, in absence of the Wifi, it is difficult to access the internet, he furthered.
Being asked about the matter, the President and General Secretary of Zahurul Haque Hall Chhatra League Kamal Uddin Rana and Rubel Hossain respectively said that they, along with the administration, are trying to manage another well-organized service provider. They are near to the reach a conclusion, they added.
“We, Chhatra League leaders and administration, canceled the connection of KS upon students’ demand.”
KS officials said that the students were not good to them that’s why they left the hall nothing else.
“I don’t know anything about it,” said the Provost of the hall Prof. Dr. M. Badruzzaman Bhuiyan, adding that he would ask them to show cause who have kicked out KS without the concern of the authority.
