The existing mild to moderate cold wave may abate in some areas over the course of the next 24 hours starting at 9am on Thursday, according to the Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD).
"In Rajshahi and Rangpur divisions, mild to moderate cold wave is sweeping over the areas along with the districts of Tangail, Faridpur, Madaripur, Gopalgonj, Manikgonj, Jashore, Kushtia, Chuadanga, Barishal and Bhola which may abate from some places," said a BMD bulletin.
From today’s midnight through tomorrow morning, moderate to thick fog may cover the river basins and surrounding areas, while light to moderate fog may be present elsewhere in the country. In certain locations, it may even last until noon, BMD added.
The country may have brief periods of partly overcast skies with dry weather. However, across the country, the nighttime temperature may increase by 1-2 degrees Celsius while the daytime temperature may remain same.
The Chuadanga Weather Observatory Centre's in-charge, Rakibul Hasan, reported his centre had recorded 6.3 degrees Celsius at 9:00 am on Thursday, which was the season's lowest temperature.
