In a delightful sighting for wildlife enthusiasts, a rare Maya deer was spotted drinking water at Satchari National Park in Habiganj.
The moment was captured on camera by Shafiqul Islam Abul, the President of the park`s co-management committee, around 11 AM on Wednesday, January 29, near the Telmachhra Beat Officer’s office.
This sighting comes shortly after the recent appearance of a bear in the park, and has once again sparked excitement among conservationists. Commenting on the discovery, Shafiqul Islam Abul said,
“Satchari National Park is rich in biodiversity. The bear’s presence created a buzz, and now, this image of the Maya deer drinking water has given us renewed hope for wildlife conservation. We are always working hard to protect the wildlife here.”
Telmachhra Beat Officer, Mehedi Hasan, shared, “The picture was taken just outside my office. We are dedicated to safeguarding the Maya deer and other wildlife species at all times.”
Biswajit Pal, Joint Convenor of the Bird Lovers Society, also weighed in,
“Satchari has a good number of Maya deer, but there’s a noticeable water shortage for them. During the winter, many nearby water sources dry up. The government needs to pay attention to this issue.”
With increasing awareness about wildlife protection, the sighting of this Maya deer brings fresh attention to the park’s need for better water resources, especially during the dry season.
