Two more individuals died from dengue fever in the past 24 hours up to 8am of Wednesday – taking the tally of fatality to five this year due to the mosquito-borne disease, said a Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) press release.
The first death was reported on January 9, the next on January 13 and January 15 respectively.
Around 14 dengue patients were hospitalized to various health care facilities across the country including eight in Dhaka, took the span of total reported dengue cases 438.
Some 353 recoveries were made this year.
Around 281 people succumbed to dengue last year while 179 deaths recorded in 2019.
A mosquito-borne disease called dengue fever affects tropical and subtropical regions of the world. Dengue is one of the top 10 public health risks, according to the World Health Organization (WHO).
