A bomb attack at Ludhiana court complex in India's Punjab killed two people on Thursday (December 23) afternoon. Four others were injured in the blast.
The explosion took place in a washroom on the second floor of the District and Sessions court complex in Ludhiana around 12:22 pm, Indian media reported citing police officials.
The area has been cordoned off by police and fire service are on the spot. While the rescue operation is being conducted, a police official said an investigation has been launched into the matter.
Authorities have issued high alert across Punjab and police have been directed to tighten security at public places.
At the time of the blast, there was a lawyers' strike on Thursday and, therefore, only a few people were in the court complex.
Walls of bathrooms were demolished, while the window glass was also shattered in the bomb blast, reported India Today.
The motive of the blast could not be confirmed yet.
Meanwhile, Punjab Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi is on his way to the spot.
