Saudi Arabia has issued official confirmation that the first day of thie year's Eid-ul-Fitr will fall on Friday.
On Thursday, the moon-sighting committee in the kingdom announced that Thursday would be the last day of the month of Ramadan and that Eid Al Fitr would be celebrated from Friday onwards.
Qatar and the UAE also announced on Thursday that the first day of Eid-ul-Fitr would be celebrated there on Saturday.
But Oman will celebrate the day on Saturday.
In Bangladesh, the National Moon Sighting Committee will hold a meeting on Friday evening at Baitul Mukarram National Mosque to fix the date of Eid-ul-Fitr, the biggest religious festival of the Muslims.
The Islamic Foundation has requested people to inform if the moon of the holy month of Shawwal is seen anywhere in the sky of Bangladesh.
Moon sighting information can be reported to district commissioner, UNO of the concerned district.
