In an attack in Bandarban, the Kuki-Chin National Army (KNA), a separatist organization, killed two Bangladesh Army soldiers and injured two more.
According to a press release from the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) on Wednesday morning, the incident occurred on Tuesday in Ruma upazila when separatists detonated an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) and started shooting at an army patrol unit.
According to ISPR, based intelligence information, there was information about the hideout of armed terrorists at a place called Jarulcharipara under Sungsungpara army camp of Ruma upazila in Bandarban on Tuesday.
A patrol team of Bangladesh Army led by Major Manowar from Sungsungpara Army camp quickly left for the purpose of operation in the concerned place, the handout added.
The patrol team came under IED blast and sudden firing by KNA terrorists around 1:55 pm on Tuesday when they reached near the spot. Two army officers and two soldiers sustained injuries.
The injured were quickly rescued and sent to the Combined Military Hospital (CMH) in Chattogram by helicopter. Two wounded soldiers died while undergoing treatment there. The two injured officers are currently undergoing treatment there, the ISPR press release added.
ISPR also said that in recent times the KNA has been trying to create an anarchic environment through terrorist activities in the deep forests of Ruma, Rowangchari and Thanchi upazilas of Bandarban.
The army chief expressed deep grief over the untimely death of the martyred soldiers who sacrificed their lives for the country and expressed his condolences to their families.
