Another child has died from burn injuries sustained in the Uttara Milestone School and College plane crash, bringing the official death toll to 34.
The deceased, 14-year-old Sahil Farabi Ayan, had been undergoing treatment at the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery.
Dr. Shawon Bin Rahman, a resident surgeon at the institute, confirmed the death and stated that Ayan had suffered burns on 40% of his body. Ayan was the son of Mohammad Ali Masud, a resident of Mirpur in Dhaka.
The tragedy occurred on July 21 when a Bangladesh Air Force fighter jet crashed into a building of Milestone School and College in Diabari, Uttara. Most of the victims were students.
As of Sunday morning, based on hospital and field reports, the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) confirmed 34 fatalities and said that 48 others are still receiving treatment in various hospitals.
