Dhaka Power Distribution Company (DPDC) will sever the power supply if any shop or shopping mall remains open after 8am, said State Minister for Power, Energy, and Mineral Resources Nasrul Hamid Bipu.
In a Facebook post on Tuesday Bipu said, the power department will strictly monitor the implementation of the government decision. The DPDC has already launched necessary drives to disconnect the power supply of lawbreakers.
The DPDC team conducted several drives at many places in the capital including Baitul Mukarram, Dainik Bangla, Paltan and Fakirapul areas on Monday night, Bipu wrote.
Officials of the city power regulator, using loudspeakers, first urged the owners to close their shops. Then they started disconnecting the power supply of those who were yet to abide by the law within the slated period.
Mentioning the matter as a warning to all, the state minister requested everyone to help the authorities keep the power-saving mood on.
